From my sketchbook to your sleeve:
This chocolate bar started as a simple doodle, but it carried more weight than I expected. It reminded me of my dad, who brought home roses and chocolate every Valentine’s Day — bouquets for my mom, single stems for my sister and me, wrapped in cellophane, always yellow for me.
The other day, his phone number disappeared from the group chat he made for my sister and me — the one he named Lovely Daughters. A small technicality, but it hit like a loss inside a loss. I glanced up at the dried yellow rose pinned above my desk, the last one he gave me, and felt that familiar tug — memory arriving in the quiet places.
This doodle is for that kind of love. The rituals that stay after the person is gone. The sweetness that becomes a form of presence. The way a simple chocolate bar can carry an entire history of being loved.
