From my sketchbook to your sleeve:
This sardine can cracked open like a relic – a tiny echo of the stories that have swirled around Sicily, family lore, and the blur between myth and memory. In my family, the legends always arrived half-whispered: a cousin with a bullet still lodged in him; a name that could stop a roadside search; a warning disguised as folklore.
Recently, my son watched The Godfather for the first time. He leaned toward the screen the way we all once had, tracing the outlines of a story he somehow already knew. When he whispered “sleeping with the fishes,” I realised the legacy wasn’t violence or myth – it was recognition. A thread tying generations together, stitched not by fear but by understanding.
This doodle is for the tales that live at the edge of truth, for the names that carry weight, and for the kids who inherit the story before they inherit the language.
